New 61-inch DLP Projection TV
Samsung just introduced the world’s largest rear projection HDTV with Texas Instrument’s second-generation DLP technology at Comdex this week. The HLM617W is the first large-screen ‘tabletop’ rear projection HDTV, weighing less than 120 pounds and less than two-feet deep.
Because the set is powered by Texas Instruments’ second-generation DLP technology there is no threat of screen aging or ‘burn-in’ due to screen format issues or use as a computer monitor. This is the first HDTV monitor of this size able to deliver sharp and bright images from movies, video games, sports or DVDs that you can sit on a shelf, or custom install in your wall.
The HLM617W features a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, DVI connection, 1280 x 720 progressive display resolution for all inputs, a dual tuner picture-in-picture feature, and a DVD (480i/480P) auto sensing component video input. The HLM617W also adds Faroudja DCDi (Directional Correlational Deinterlacing), the highest quality video processing for any video format, Faroudja’s auto-sensing 3:2 pull down system, and Samsung’s DNIe (Digital Natural Image engine) for enhanced contrast, detail, white tone and noise reduction.
The HLM617W will be available in the first part of 2003 for $5999. www.samsungusa.com
