New 50-inch Plasmavision for Home Theater

Fujitsu Plasmavision PDS-5002 May 2002 – Fujitsu just announced the introduction of its largest Plasmavision SlimScreen monitor ever for home theater—the new 50-inch widescreen (16:9) PDS-5002. The PDS-5002 delivers the cinema-quality viewing experience only a big-screen display can provide, and incorporates the company’s most advanced video technologies for exceptionally vivid and realistic image quality. Extraordinary Large-Screen Home Theater Impact
Fujitsu’s Plasmavision SlimScreen PDS-5002 brings the cinema experience home with spectacular large-screen impact, with a widescreen aspect ratio that lets viewers enjoy movies the way they were originally shown in the movie theater. The PDS-5002 incorporates a host of advanced technologies for remarkably realistic picture quality, with superb clarity, sharpness and color accuracy. It delivers a high 500 cd/m2 brightness along with an outstanding 3000:1 contrast ratio. Offering true Convergent Visual Medium versatility, the PDS-5002 features a high-resolution 1366 x 768 pixel array and can display the output from virtually any home theater video source, including true 1080i and 720p HDTV and 480p signals from a DTV set-top box. In addition, the PDS-5002 accepts the video output from a computer up to UXGA resolution.

The PDS-5002 utilizes the newly developed AVM (Advanced Video Movement) processor as shared with Fujitsu’s latest Plasmavision models. The new processor virtually eliminates motion artifacts and flicker, improves vertical resolution and reproduces natural movement with ease. The processor’s built-in line doubler converts NTSC signals and uses different types of processing for moving and still pictures, yielding smoother images with more natural movement and without visible scan lines. High definition television (HDTV) and DVD signals are also enhanced for the characteristics of the plasma display panel, to achieve optimum image quality.

In addition to exceptional picture quality, the Fujitsu PDS-5002 offers unparalleled installation flexibility. It includes component video, S-video, composite video and analog RGB video connections, a DVI-D digital video input, plus a built-in stereo amplifier and stereo audio outputs. The PDS-5002 also features an RS-232C control port for integrated system operation. The PDS-5002 offers a wide range of picture adjustments, accessible via its easy to use on-screen menu and full-function remote control.

With a depth of less than four inches, the PDS-5002 can be hung either on a wall or ceiling, or mounted on a stand. Ideal for custom installation, its design makes it easier to get a big 50-inch widescreen picture into a smaller space, and its slim profile and elegant appearance integrates perfectly with a room’s décor.

The Fujitsu Plasmavision SlimScreen PDS-5002 carries a suggested retail price of $14,999 and will be available August 2001.
