NEC Introduces New 50-inch Plasma Display
NEC's New Plasma Offers 50% Greater Contrast Ratio for Cleaner, Sharper
Images; Features Lowest Introductory Price for a 50-Inch XGA Panel to Date

NEC Technologies today introduced its new PlasmaSync(R) 50MP2 plasma display
for multimedia presentation applications. The 50MP2 offers a 50% greater
contrast ratio over the NEC's previous generation display for superior image
quality. The 50MP2 also makes plasma technology affordable to more users with
a suggested retail price of $12,995, the lowest introductory price for a
50-inch XGA panel to date.
The 50MP2 provides superior performance in conference room and boardroom applications, videoconferencing suites, training facilities and broadcast production/editing/playback applications. Its wide XGA resolution also makes it ideal for control rooms, network operation centers, rental and staging applications, and engineering visualization, design and presentation uses. Power consumption has also been reduced by 25% in the 50MP2, lowering user energy costs. The display also features high-resolution support and computer, video and HDTV source compatibility for extreme flexibility and protection from obsolescence. The 50MP2 is the only 50-inch display to feature NEC's exclusive AccuCrimson(TM) technology, which eliminates the orange tint associated with other plasma displays for more realistic shades of red. And the display's image quality is enhanced further by NEC's patented Capsulated Color Filter(TM) technology for realistic color reproduction and Advanced Accublend(TM) scan conversion for sharp display of screen images in non-native resolutions. With the 50MP2, NEC enhances its Digital Zoom to provide even smoother transitions while allowing users to pick a section of the screen and magnify it up to three times to emphasize a point or make small text visible to the whole room. NEC remains the only 50-inch plasma manufacturer to offer Split-Screen Technology, incorporating expanded options in the 50MP2 including variable-size picture-in-picture capability. It additionally incorporates Pixel Refreshment Technology, a programmable bar that scrolls across the screen activating screen phosphor as part of the monitor's AccuShield(TM) Phosphor Protection System, the most comprehensive system to minimize the risk of phosphor burn available today.
