NEC Introduces New 42-Inch Plasma Displays

April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- NEC Solutions America today began shipping its most dynamic, flexible 42" plasma displays designed for public display applications, the PlasmaSync 42VP4 and 42VP4D. The displays build upon NEC's industry-leading Public Display (PD) Series design with a 25% contrast ratio increase and new NEC advancements for best-of-class image quality while offering a greater overall value with a retail price $2,000 below that of the previous generation product.

"NEC's new PlasmaSync 42VP4 and 42VP4D command audience attention with bright, vibrant images, a sleek new design and built-in stereo audio, giving public display users the power to communicate their messages more dynamically than ever before," said Mike Piehl, plasma product line manager for NEC Solutions America, Visual Systems Division. "And by incorporating the complete feature set of our popular 42MP3 in addition to public display features, the 42VP4 also provides a tremendous low-cost solution for multimedia presentation users."

The new Public Display Series generation offers a suite of features important for digital signage applications, including the choice between an anti-glare screen (in the 42VP4D) for high ambient lighting conditions and an anti-reflective screen (in the 42VP4) for normal conditions. The new models can be configured in either a 2 x 2 or a 3 x 3 display matrix without an external processor for a larger-than-life display with even greater impact. The displays feature built-in 8W x 8W stereo audio and a built-in programmable timer that allows the displays to virtually operate themselves. With low power consumption of only 275W and the most phosphor protection modes of any 42" plasma, the 42VP4 and 42VP4D displays also give users low operating costs and greater durability for any public display application.

With a wide VGA panel and progressive scan driving method, the new displays allow for sharp, crisp images that are stable and flicker-free. The 42VP4 and 42VP4D are the first displays to feature exclusive new NEC advancements for jitter-free images and reduced distortion, along with new technologies to smooth jagged lines and correct color bleeds for clear, stable color images and easy-to-read text. Enhanced white balance flexibility enables users to make individual color adjustments without altering the color temperature. And the highest video and data display quality is ensured thanks to Advanced AccuBlend scaling technology, motion-compensated 3D scan conversion, 3/2 pulldown, Capsulated Color Filter technology for realistic color and AccuCrimson technology for pure reds.

The new PD Series displays give users enormous built-in versatility, with the most comprehensive standard input panel in their class along with a complete set of RS232 commands for remote operation and diagnostics. The 42VP4 and 42VP4D design reserves space for a small form PC, and a cable management system guarantees a clean appearance without costly enclosures. A unique fanless design allows for silent operation anywhere. The thin, lightweight displays can additionally be wall-mounted to preserve valuable floor space, and can operate in either portrait or landscape orientation for tremendous installation flexibility.
