MGI Announces Cinematic Video Editing Software

Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ - MGI (TSE:MGI), the makers of VideoWave, the world's most popular consumer video editing software, today announced MGI Cinematic, new generation video software which breaks new ground with innovative technology that automates the video production process, adds inspiration, and lets any user make better, more compelling movies. Cinematic is an entry level software package that takes in video from any source, provides editing and publishing capabilities, but also recognizes that users today may not have the creative ability, inclination or time to spend spicing up their videos. MGI's new product assures users: "You Shoot the Video, Cinematic Will Make the Movie". Introducing Video Software with the Inspiration Built-in
Combining its insight with proven technology leadership in digital video, MGI delivers in Cinematic a product that promises to bring ease of use to an unprecedented level. The software supports three different modes for movie editing, each catering to users' different experience levels:
  • For the complete novice there is CineMagic(TM), a breakthrough technology that lets the user sit back while their raw video footage and favorite music are automatically fashioned into a polished fully edited production. The user simply selects one of many included styles - anything from a music video to an old-time movie - and CineMagic organizes the clips, adds the effects and transitions, and sets the tempo to create a finished production.

  • For the more adventurous there is StoryBuilder(TM) mode, where a step- by-step wizard guides users through the creation of their own personal documentary. By selecting an event template such as 'Children's Birthday', 'Wedding', 'Christmas', etc., and answering a few simple questions, a well-structured storyboard is assembled, including professionally produced introductions, animated text, video overlays, and background music. The user simply adds video clips to create a highly polished production.

  • Finally, Cinematic provides users who have learned the editing process with the ability to create their own videos from scratch or hone the results of a movie generated by the software. They can work on their own with access to a comprehensive library of transitions, 2D and 3D special effects, audio and text editor, which come with the program.

The software takes in video from analog and DV sources, and supports all popular output formats to easily produce movies for computer use, back to tape, the Web, Video CDs or DVDs.

"For the millions of camcorder owners that would like to make better movies, but may not know how or have the time to learn, Cinematic is the answer," said Ihor Petelycky, chief product strategist, MGI. "Once again, MGI recognizes an emerging video user with a unique set of needs. While Cinematic borrows some key features from VideoWave, it essentially caters to a different user. It is video software with the creative inspiration to make better movies built-in. VideoWave needs you to be Spielberg, but with Cinematic all you need to add is the popcorn."
