Logitech and uBid Combine Forces to Enhance Live Internet Auctions With Video

July 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Logitech (Nasdaq: LOGI; Switzerland: LOGN, LOGZ), the leading provider of web cameras and video services, today announced that uBid, the Internet's No. 1 business-to-consumer auction and e-commerce marketplace, is using Logitech's video application and hosting services to personalize auctions with pre-recorded video. Logitech is providing the video application as well as hosting the published videos, through the recently formed Logitech Video Services group. Auctioneers can now record up to one minute of video using most current web cameras or video recording devices, and easily post it to their uBid auction site.

"The addition of video makes Internet communication more immediate and real," said Bruce Friedricks, director of business development for Logitech's Video Business Unit. "In the setting of an online auction, it can offer increased credibility and product demonstration power for the seller, and increased excitement and motivation for the buyer. We're excited to be working with uBid to bring a new dimension to the auction environment."

Sellers simply create a video clip and upload the file to uBid via seller tools upon creating a new auction. When building an auction, the seller will be prompted to add a picture or video. The video service is now available to all consumer exchange members. Pricing ranges from $3 per video clip stored up to 30 days up to $10 per video clip stored up to 190 days. Logitech has ensured that consumers with both broadband and modem connections can take advantage of this new feature. The pre-recorded video is progressively downloaded, enabling every viewer quick and easy access to the clip. The video starts to play while the rest of the file downloads, enabling the viewer to watch the first part of the video, while the remainder of the file continues to download.

"With video, uBid sellers can now not only provide a better view of their products, but also establish greater trust and a more personal relationship with their buyers," said Christian Feuer, president and CEO for uBid. "Logitech's complete camera-to-browser solution makes video easy for both corporate and individual sellers."
