Lite-On Announces New DVD /VCR Recorder Combo

August 2005 -- Lite-On IT continues to expand its line of affordable and easy-to-use DVD recorders with the introduction of its LVC-9015 DVD /VCR Recorder combo unit. The new DVD recorder features the company's award-winning and exclusive All-Write (1) technology for writing to the most popular digital media formats and an integrated VCR for simple dubbing of VHS libraries directly to DVD. The new LVC-9015 DVD /VCR Recorder combo will have an estimated retail price of $199 (2).

For the first time in a DVD/VCR combo unit, users will now be able to playback a VHS tape in Progressive Scan mode for sharper color rendition. This feature is ideal for users who still want the flexibility of viewing VHS tapes while enjoying the highest playback quality available in any DVD/VCR combo unit on the market.

Using Lite-On's innovative All-Write technology, the LVC-9015 is capable of recording to any DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW or CD-R/RW discs, greatly reducing consumer concerns and confusion about which recordable media format to buy and use. Once the DVD has been finalized, regardless of its format, playback will be possible in most DVD players available today.

For ease-of-use and consumer convenience, the LVC-9015 incorporates Lite-On's Easy Guider menu system for simplifying essential DVD Recorder operations. By pressing the Easy Guider button on the unit's remote control, users will be able to quickly and easily navigate through many of the system's primary functions such as Play, Record and Dubbing from VHS to DVD. The step-by-step tutorial makes playing, recording and transferring video from one format to another effortless and hassle-free.

"Simplicity and flexibility are very important features that consumers look for in this class of product. We are very proud of the innovative advancements our design team has incorporated into this new, multi-functional device," said Christine Hsing, Marketing Manager at Lite-On.

"Leveraging our previous experience in this market, Lite-on was able to provide tremendous flexibility by giving users a choice of format to view, as well as simplifying the purchase decision for recordable media with All-Write and system navigation through Easy Guider. "And the LVC09015 provides these features and accommodations at an extremely attractive pricepoint,"? Ms. Hsing added.

The Lite-On LVC-9015 also offers a built-in DV Link for quickly transferring digital video directly from the camcorder to DVD or VHS. Transferring digital video to DVD provides several options for consumers including the ability to work with editing software programs to produce professional-looking videos. It can also be used as a means of archiving precious memories and provides cost-saving options by allowing consumers to re-use the DV tape to record additional footage.

The built-in VCR Plus + system lets users simply input a set of predefined digits found in the TV Guide magazine or newspaper TV listings to program the timer/record function. Once input, recording any television show is fast and simple by following the unit's Easy Guider function for program recording set-up. The unit's easy-to-set Timer/Recording feature allows up to 8 sets of pre-scheduled recordings to be viewed at one's convenience.

The Lite-On LVC-9015 DVD/VHS combo recorder will be available nationwide and have a suggested retail price of $199.99.
