JVC Announces VCR/DVD and MiniDV/S-VHS Dual Deck Combos
February 2002 – Families enjoy watching movies and recording videos in a multitude of formats – DVD, Mini DV, VHS and S-VHS – which in the past required multiple devices. But not anymore. JVC Dual Deck Series of recorder/players makes video viewing simple by combining multiple formats in the same deck, providing the utmost in flexibility, convenience and economy. Two new combos are ready to roll: the HR-XVC1U, which integrates a HiFi VHS VCR with a DVD player, and the HR-DVS3U, which blends the latest in MiniDV with high-quality S-VHS/VHS in a single unit. “Consumers and professionals alike want to move swiftly and surely between formats instead of juggling multiple devices,” said Jerry Barbera, Vice President Consumer Video Division, JVC Company of America. “By integrating the most popular formats into combo units, playback, recording, editing and dubbing have never been easier, faster or more fun. These two units set the standard in dual deck playback."
The HR-XVC1U HiFi VHS VCR/DVD Player Combo features an on-screen display in three languages (English, French and Spanish), the ability to copy DVD to VCR (however copy protected DVDs can not be copied), VCR recording during DVD playback, seven segment LED display and a 50 key unified glow remote. The VCR section features an eight-program/one-month timer, auto clock set, channel memory, a 430mm chassis, SQPB (Super VHS Quasi-Playback) and an auto SP/EP timer. The unit’s DVD player features playback of DVD video, CD-A, CD-R/RW, Video CD and MP3. In addition the DVD player provides optical/coaxial digital out with DTS pass through, four step variable search (forward and reverse), four step variable slow (forward and reverse), parental lock, virtual surround, three step zoom play and an angle list. The HR-XVC1U HiFi VHS VCR/DVD Player Combo will be available in February for a Nationally Advertised Value of $329.95. With easy playback of MiniDV camcorder tapes and VHS compatibility, the HR-DVS3U provides a wealth of functions. It can be used as a MiniDV playback solution, MiniDV to S-VHS/VHS dubbing, digital archiving (S-VHS/VHS to MiniDV) and as a computer peripheral for non-linear editing (NLE) via the fire wire (IEEE 1394) connection. The unit provides 500 lines of horizontal resolution with the DV format and over 400 lines of horizontal resolution with Super VHS. In addition, the system provides easy editing, one touch dubbing, 8x8 program editing, VCR Plus with cable box control, express programming, and 1-Year/6-Event programmable timer.
