Dual Audio Makes Waves in the Marine Sound Market

July 8, 2003 – Dual Audio, a name revered by generations of audio enthusiasts, today announced its entry into the 12V marine audio market with two head units specifically designed to withstand the rigors of life at sea.

“There is more to designing a true marine sound product than merely packing a mobile receiver in a white chassis,” said Jim Braun, President and CEO, Namsung America, Inc., parent company of Dual Audio. “Each of our new marine models offers robust, dynamic output and the benefit of knowing the electronics are protected with the most advanced assembly methods available today.”

The two new models – MXD50 and MXD60 – are proven to fight corrosion, with clear-coated circuit boards and rust-resistant chassis. Faceplates are certified UV resistant, as are the trim ring, and, on the MXD60, the silicone rubber controls.

The MXD60 (SRP: $249) is a 200-watt (50W x 4) AM/FM/CD receiver with a swing down, detachable faceplate for enhanced security. All controls are fully electronic, with the added advantage of a multi-button power-on function for enhanced ease of use.

The CD section allows users to pre-program up to 24 tracks, with last position memory, direct track access, 8x oversampling, and 1-Bit D/A converter. Anti-shock mechanism maintains stability on the roughest water.

Both U.S. and European frequency are featured on the tuner, which includes 30 station presets (20 FM/10 AM), as well as auto station store, preset scan, one-touch memory, seek and scan. Also included is a keyless CD eject feature, plus one pair each of preamp outputs and auxiliary RCA inputs.

The MXD50 (SRP: $179) is in many respects similar to the MXD60, but with a maximum power output of 180 Watts peak (45W x 4), and the added benefit of three selectable EQ curves – rock, pop, and classic. The fixed faceplate features a positive green LCD display, and the tuner section allows up to 24 station presets (18 FM/6 AM). Dual Audio’s MXD60 and MXD50 will be available in August.
