Custom Sound Out of the Box

Bose Lifestyle 35 Every room where you watch movies or listen to music is different. And every variation -- from room size and shape, to window treatments and floor coverings -- can affect the audio quality of even the most sophisticated surround sound systems and music systems. A solution from Bose: the ADAPTiQ audio calibration system, a proprietary innovation that analyzes and adjusts for a particular room, speaker location, even listener location -- all factors that impact the audio performance of any sound system.

Now available in the DVD-based Lifestyle 28 and 35 home entertainment systems, ADAPTiQ technology assures a level of performance unmatched by some of the most expensive and advanced room compensation technologies available today.

The Bose Lifestyle 28 and 35 systems include an ADAPTiQ headset and the necessary application software on a CD-ROM. User involvement is minimal and straightforward -- requiring approximately 15 minutes from start to finish.

The CD-ROM, played through the Lifestyle system, guides you through each step, ensures the calibration is performed correctly and provides help if needed.

To start the process, select five listening locations in the room and put on the ADAPTiQ headset. The headset uses tiny microphones that listen to and measure test sounds played from the speakers. Wearing the headset, move to each selected location -- and the ADAPTiQ system performs its measurements simply and automatically, "listening" to the room and comparing the response at every speaker to the Bose target response. Proprietary algorithms then process the information and adjust the sound of each speaker for the specific acoustics and listening positions of the room.

If a substantial change is made to the listening environment -- or if the Lifestyle system is moved to an entirely new room -- the ADAPTiQ system can be re-engaged.

In addition to ADAPTiQ technology, the Lifestyle 28 and Lifestyle 35 home entertainment systems each include a media center that provides playback of DVD-video, DVD-R, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, PCM, DTS Digital Surround, Dolby Digital, and MP3 on CD. Proprietary Bose Videostage 5 circuit technology offers 5-channel surround sound from any source, including older mono TV.

An updated Acoustimass module, utilizing a proprietary hybrid acoustic enclosure, delivers the clarity of pure bass reproduction down to the lowest frequencies, even at the loudest levels. A universal RF remote provides complete system control integration.

The Lifestyle 35 home entertainment system includes Bose's Jewel Cube speakers; the Lifestyle 28 system features Bose Direct/Reflecting cube speaker arrays.

The ADAPTiQ audio calibration system will be included with every Lifestyle 28 and 35 home entertainment system, beginning in June 2002 Price: $2499 for the Lifestyle 28 system, $2999 for the Lifestyle 35 system. www.bose.com
