Best Home Theater Accessory: Adcom ACE-315 Power Protector

Adcom ACE-315The Adcom name is an old and trusted one in consumer audio. Adcom is probably best known for giving customers a lot of "bang for the buck." To be cost-effective and win "golden-ear" awards at the same time is no easy task, and in this respect few companies can match Adcom's record. The engineers at Adcom have perfected a design which has passed the most rigorous U.S. military tests to protect electronic components from the inevitable power surges or other misbehavior from your incoming AC. This design is incorporated in the ACE-315 power protector.
Unlike the "el cheapo" power strip protectors that are prone to fail after a powerful surge, the 315 takes a licking and just keeps on protecting your valuable equipment. I always thought a power strip was all I needed -wrong! Power strips employ what are termed "sacrificed components" that stop the surge. The only problem with this design is that these very parts are destroyed in the process of doing their job (or "sacrificed"). Even after they have lost their effectiveness current still flows through the device - only now you have no protection and no warning that replacement is needed. The Adcom 315 is simply a no-nonsense, no mumbo-jumbo device to protect electronic components. This is the best AC power protection you can buy and, as usual for Adcom, the price (at around $250) is more than fair.
