Navman Unveils Next Generation GPS Navigation Solution for the Pocket PC
June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Navman announced today the release of its latest companion product for iPAQ Pocket PCs. The Navman GPS 3450, a replacement to the tremendously popular GPS 3420, offers Pocket PC users a variety of new options and features including both valuable hardware and software enhancements.
The GPS 3450 offers consumers the most cost-effective, all-in-one GPS navigation solution available for the iPAQ. New hardware features include support for HP's new iPAQ H5400 series Pocket PC, an improved chipset for faster satellite access and a jack to connect an external antenna for customized device placement and use in vehicles with metalized windshields. Software enhancements to the GPS 3450 include improved algorithms for faster and more efficient routing and rerouting, increased capacity for saving favorite and recent destinations and support for CF and SD card readers for easier map loading. Additionally, the device now offers French, Spanish and English language direction display and voice commands.
"With the GPS 3450, Navman continues to drive functionality and convenience in personal navigation for mobile computing," said Jeff Fellows, president of Navman USA. "Our latest device is easy to use, packed with features and supports the most recently introduced iPAQ, while maintaining the essentials that made its predecessor, the 3420, such a tremendous success."
Powered by Navman's SmartST Professional street mapping software, the 3450 offers detailed street-level mapping, address-to-address routing, Back- on-track(TM) rerouting when off-course and an extensive points-of-interest library. Large display icons and easy-to-read maps provide an operator- friendly interface. For added safety while driving, the software is fully automatic and provides voice, in addition to visual driving instructions. The Navman software contains a wealth of additional features as well, including ETA calculations, the ability to read maps from internal memory, CF or SD expansion cards and an auto-zoom feature to signal upcoming maneuvers, to name a few. The Navman software uses maps from Navigation Technologies, which supplies cartography for 100% of the North American in-vehicle navigation market.
The Navman GPS 3450 comes complete with a compact and powerful GPS sleeve, SmartST Professional navigation software with maps for the contiguous 48 states and Hawaii, in-car mounting kit and a vehicle power adapter. Its elegant design also includes a built-in Type II CompactFlash slot for added functionality as well as software expandability.
