Fuji Releases Eight New Cameras

PHOTOKINA 2002– Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd. continues to expand the world of photography with the release of eight new cameras this autumn, starting with the flagship Zoom Date F2.8, the company’s first compact camera with a 24mm ~ 50mm ultra-wide and bright lens.

35mm format cameras

The Zoom Date F2.8 redefines photography as the company’s first compact camera with a bright ultra-wide F2.8/24mm lens.
The Zoom Date F2.8 was born to answer the fundamental desire for a camera that allows customers to capture photos the way they should be – sharp, wide range, and with clear beautiful background. This camera is designed to give users a better appreciation for the feel of quality silver-halide photography. To this end, Fujfilm adopted an ultra-wide, bright F2.8/24mm ~ 50mm zoom lens.

The Zoom Date F2.8 is equipped with the Intelligent Multi-Programmed Flash, which works together with the bright lens, automatically adjusting the flash power and shutter speed to match subject distance and ambient light, assures natural looking results with natural tones of the subject and clearer backgrounds. There is also Quick Shot Mode, that allows users rapid focusing on the subject so that they never miss a single photo opportunity.

The Zoom Date F2.8 is equipped with an Extra-large Backlit LCD control panel for easy viewing even in low light, assuring simple, intuitive command of major functions. The LCD offers highly visible data on the self-timer, flash settings, focus, date/time settings, remaining exposures, and battery life.

Also possible with the wide 24mm lens is a “Self Snap mode” , users can take themselves and everyone else with them including the background, all without using a tripod or remote control. Twin Shutter release buttons helps make taking “Self Snaps” easy as well as ensuring ease of use for anybody in any situation.

The result is a handy go-anywhere companion which has much more to offer than simply its compact and attractive design, opening entirely new vistas of photographic enjoyment. The Zoom Date F2.8 will be available in February 2003.

Zoom Date 90S and Zoom Date 115S – perfect choices for the whole family
The Zoom Date 90S features a 38mm~90mm 2.5x Fujinon zoom lens, while the Zoom Date 115S is equipped with a more powerful 38mm~115mm 3x Fujinon zoom lens. Both models have a built-in multi-function flash offering Fill-in, Flash Off, Night Portrait and Landscape modes, and as the system is auto flash, the results are always beautiful thanks to accurate lighting. Each model features an easy-to-read LCD panel that shows remaining exposures, battery condition, and flash, date and shooting modes. These two Zoom Date cameras offer convenience and ease of use that few cameras can rival.

In addition, the Zoom Date 115S features a big viewfinder to make it much quicker and easier for users to frame shots just the way they want them. What’s more, the Zoom Date 115S is equipped with the Sure Loading System designed to only accept the film in the correct position. Once film is inserted and the camera back is closed, the film automatically advances, ready for the taking of beautiful pictures. Since the film prewinds, precious exposed shots are protected from light if the camera is accidentally opened. The Zoom Date 90S and Zoom Date 115S are presently available on the market.

Clear Shot Zoom 50 – easy-to-use precise zoom with full manual control
The Clear Shot Zoom 50 features a 35mm~52mm 1.5x Fujinon manual zoom lens for precise zoom photography. This easy-to-handle, easy-to-use camera lets anyone manually zoom in to 52mm for portraits and them smoothly out for wide 35mm shots. The Clear Shot Zoom 50 makes things easier still, including functions such as automatic film drive and rewind, and a manual flash so the photos always have enough light. Plus there’s Red-eye reduction to reduce or eliminate the unwanted red-eye effect. This camera will be available by the end of this year.

Clear Shot 30 and Clear Shot 70AF – continuing the Clear Shot tradition of simplicity and convenience
These Clear Shot cameras feature an extra-large viewfinder which is both wide and bright, allowing the easy creation of a wide variety of compositions, and reducing the number of “missed photo chances”. Clear Shot 30 features a 28mm focus-free Fujinon lens, while the Clear Shot 70AF incorporates a 28mm autofocus Fujinon lens. Both models are equipped with auto-flash with Red-eye reduction, and date models are also available. These cameras are presently available on the market.
