Apple Unveils the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store

September 5, 2007—Apple® today unveiled the iTunes® Wi-Fi Music Store, offering music fans the ability to browse, search, preview, purchase and download songs and albums from the iTunes Music Store over a Wi-Fi network directly onto their iPod® touch or iPhone™. With the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store, music fans can start enjoying their music purchases immediately on their iPod touch or iPhone with no computer required. Once they connect their iPod touch or iPhone back to their PC or Mac®, downloaded music will automatically sync back into their iTunes library. If users have only partially downloaded a song or album onto their iPod touch or iPhone, their computer will complete the download automatically. Apple Lowers iPhone Price, Intros New iPod Touch, nano


 Apple iPod touchApple just announced that they were lowering the price of the 8GB iPhone from $599 to just $399. The 8GB iPhone is available immediately for $399 in the US through Apple’s retail and online stores and AT&T retail stores. The iPhone 4GB model will be sold while supplies last.

Also announced is the new iPod touch with built-in Wi-Fi networking and a multi-touch user interface—first introduced on iPhone—that makes it easy to find all of your music, video, and other digital content and enjoy it on the widescreen display of the iPod touch. The multi-touch interface uses new software to present the perfect user interface for Safari, Apple’s YouTube application, and the new iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store. The 8mm thin, iPod touch features up to 22 hours of audio playback and up to five hours of video playback. Sony Takes on Apple


 Sony Video WalkmanThought the Walkman was dead? Think again. Sony just announced two new Walkman players to the consumer electronics market. In a move to compete with Apple, their latest Walkman players not only support audio, but now have added video and photos into the mix.

Also announced, they will be doing away with their CONNECT Music Services (not before March 2008) and will now feature an Open Digital Music Environment- meaning they are compatible with Windows Media Audio (WMA), as well as AAC and MP3 music formats. Read more

AT&T and Apple Announce Service Plans for iPhone

June 26, 2007—AT&T Inc. and Apple® today announced three simple, affordable service plans for iPhone™ which start at just $59.99 per month. All three plans include unlimited data, Visual Voicemail, 200 SMS text messages, roll-over minutes and unlimited mobile-to-mobile calling. With everything else already included, iPhone customers can easily choose the plan that’s right for them based on the amount of voice minutes they plan to use each month. In addition, iPhone customers can choose from any of AT&T’s standard service plans.
