Students: Buy a Mac, Get a Free iPod touch!

Apple Buy a Mac, Get a Free iPod touch

Apple just announced a special deal for students – buy a MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, or iMac and get a free iPod touch! To qualify for this offer you have to be a student or employee of any K-12 or higher-education institution. Parents are also eligible for the program.

This is how it works: to get the free iPod touch you have to buy the iPod touch at the same time as the Mac. Then, after the purchase, fill out the rebate form online and wait to get your money. The good thing is, once your claim has been submitted, you can check the rebate status online. The bad thing is, these days many people don't have an extra $229 lying around (I know I don't!). But if you do, this is an excellent deal from Apple!

This offer is available only at the Apple Online Store, Apple Retail Stores, and Apple Authorized Campus Stores and ends September 8, 2009. Rebates must be submitted by October 9, 2009. Get full details at Apple's website.

Following the Leader Who Follows the Leaders

Guess when you have $56 billion and change in the vault in today's economic environment you must be doing something right. Just wish our kids would quit contributing to the stash Apple is using to buy GPU (graphics processor unit) technology and game designer talent.

A few years ago Apple decided all smartphones sucked (they're not too hot on netbooks either). So they announced the step up from the iPod…the iPhone.

Make a Call Too – When Apple introduced the iPhone it was more than a smartphone. Actually it was everything else first and then a phone. Good move because the company set its solution way apart from everyone else and the rest of the market scrambled to catch up…still are. Source – Apple Read more

GV Mobile Apple iStore iPhone/iPod App for Voice

GV Mobile logo

The GV Mobile App is pending approval, and will most likely be approved before the public launch of Google Voice. IP Telephony has been mobile for some time with Skype and the various SIP phones available. It will take Google's strength and market share to make IP telephony mainstream. I predict the white space that currently carries analog television will become WiMax, and SIP phones will become mainstream.

The iPod touch users who will be able to make voice calls with GV Mobile should be pleased with this application. GrandCentral users are still being converted to Google Voice, and most of these users had already found Grand Dialer for the iPhone. GrandDialer allowed callers to make calls from their GrandCentral telephone number.

Google Voice is free, and GV Mobile might cost some money. It is possible the price will be in the $2.99 range. It is most likely worth $9.99 or more. As a one-time charge to have voice function on an iPod touch, I am sure many people will pay what is needed.

Broken iPhone? You need Milliamp LTD's iPod Juice.

 Broken iPhone close up

So what do you do? Buy a new iPhone? Do you stand in line at the Apple Store and deliver a sad "puppy-dog face" and cross your fingers that the stars are shining on you for a new device to be given to you? What do you do? When I say broken, I mean physically broken. If there are some internal issues, and the iPhone is less then 90 days old your sad face might produce results.

I searched online, and of course I mean searched in Google for "iPhone Repair." Then the most amazing thing happened, the top result, iPod Juice was whom I chose to repair my iPhone.

The service from this company was awesome. It was as if they too owned my iPhone and wanted to repair it, and return it as quickly as possible. I tend to judge many companies I buy products from on their packaging. The reason I look to the packaging as an identifier in quality is because you look at someone's home by they way they present their home with curb appeal. An online company does this with their packaging. Apple has great packaging. Amazon.com has efficient, clean packaging. There are more, and you understand why I look to packaging, because the owners of the company made that decision. The owners of online retailers are proud of their company, and Milliamp LTD has pride in ownership with iPod Juice. Read more

AT&T to Offer No Contract iPhone

Apple iPhone 3G

Beginning March 26th, AT&T will be offering both the 8GB and 16GB iPhone 3G to customers with no contract. The no contract offer is limited to one phone per line and you have to already be an AT&T customer to be able to take advantage of this offer. If you ask me, I think it would be smarter for AT&T to make this available to everyone and maybe pick up some additional customers in the process. If they don't, at least they've made some money off of the phone on the front end. After all, with a no contract price of $599 for the 8GB and $699 for the 16GB, they aren't cheap.

Will they sell? With the economy in the state it is in these days, I'm tempted to think not. However, it is an iPhone…and the very first iPhone sold for $499 (4GB) and $599 (8GB), WITH a contract. So, who knows…we'll just have to wait and see.
